Mohamed Shahin is an inspirational instructor, world-renowned performer, and challenging choreographer of Egyptian Oriental Dance. His powerful technique, magnetic personality, and masterful knowledge of all styles of Middle Eastern Dance has turned Mohamed Shahin into one of the most sought-after dance instructors and performers in the world today.

A native of Cairo, Egypt, Mr. Shahin discovered his passion for Egyptian Dance at the young age of fifteen. Throughout Shahin’s childhood, he was fascinated by all forms of dance. and after receiving his degree as Mechanical Engineer, he was at cross road to choose between becoming a full-time engineer or pursue his life as a professional dancer / dance teacher, Shahin decided that he would dedicate himself to the Egyptian Dance. After many years of the intense study of various Middle Eastern styles of dance, Modern dance, and Ballet- Shahin developed a complex methodology of instruction that has made him a Master teacher beloved to his students worldwide, today. Shahin currently lives in New York City but has been touring the world full-time since 2004.

At Shahin’s workshops, students fall in love with his friendly personality and the level of perfectionism and fine attention to detail that sets him apart as an instructor of Middle Eastern dances. He is a Master Instructor / Choreographer of Egyptian Oriental Dance, as well as all forms of Egyptian Folkloric Dance. Shahin’s explanations of technical breakdowns of the body isolations, movements, and combinations that make up his elaborate and challenging choreographies, during his classes, have made Shahin very popular among his students internationally. He has a wonderful connection with his students. Shahin’s mission as an instructor and performer representing Egyptian dance is to share with his students his extensive knowledge of Egyptian dance and Egyptian culture. Shahin introduces the rich dance heritage of the Arab World to the rest of the world through his masculine performance repertoire which also includes the incredible Egyptian styling of the Whirling Dervish Dance. Shahin’s talent and expertise have taken him around the world to teach workshops, perform and judge international dance competitions in major dance festivals in many countries throughout North America, South America, Europe, Australia, Asia, and Africa including the largest international Egyptian belly dance festival in the world. Shahin speaks Arabic, English & Russian which adds to his great array of skills and enables him to instruct students in these 3 languages.

As festival organiser and producer, Shahin is one of the founder, Co-organizer, Director and instructor of Annual RAQS, OF COURSE Egyptian Dance Festival in Cairo – Egypt as well as an organizer and co-owner and a staple instructor of the Annual NYCairo Raks Festival in New York City, USA one of the most successful and sought-after festival in the USA.

As an instructor, Shahin, found the need to create his own line of instructional DVDs at the request of many of his students participating in his workshops and private classes worldwide. Shahin’s workshop participants are now able to continually study his choreographies and drills of the technical breakdowns, body isolations, movements, and combinations that make up his choreographies- in the convenience of their own homes. Shahin’s instructional DVDs are also a great asset for those whom study Egyptian dance but are unable to attend Shahin’s workshops. Shahin has numerous instructional DVD’s on the market under the name ‘Dance Like an Egyptian’ DVD series.

In addition to the continuous productions of DVD’s, Shahin, has produced series of Music Albums, CD’s that are made especially for Bellydancers and keeping all the Bellydancers needs in mind, his experience as a master teacher has given him an edge to work with the musicians to produce songs that are tailored to the dance and dancers, his productions experience in the music studio has made him extremely valuable to both the musicians and the dancers alike, producing some of the best music albums ever created for dance.

At the start of Shahin’s career as a professional dancer; Shahin began his training with the famous El Qawmia National Dance Troupe in Cairo. During his training, Shahin acquired the skilful artistry and knowledge of Egyptian folkloric dance that initiated his lifelong love of Egyptian dance and career as a performer and instructor. Shahin has danced with countless renowned choreographers of Middle Eastern dance. Shahin performed with Reda’s private dance company and was a primary dancer in Hassan Afifi’s dance troupe. Shahin’s extensive training in Egyptian folkloric dance has made him a famous and noted expert on the subject. Shahin wishes to thank all those who support and inspire him on his journey in dance.

Shahin was one of the primary dancers in Dr. Atef Awad’s ballet and modern dance company based in Cairo, for 10 years. He served as trainer and artistic director for Egyptian superstar singer/ actor/ television show host Samir Sabry’s dance troupe. Shahin has made numerous performance appearances in various television programs, theatres, 5-star hotels, music videos, films, museums, and prestigious establishments worldwide.

During his career as a performer and instructor of Bellydance / Egyptian folkloric dance, Shahin has been greatly inspired by Mahmoud Reda, Raqia Hassan and by such legendary golden era Egyptian dancers. Shahin is continually influenced by current Egyptian dance artists, performers, and teachers. Throughout his travels, he has been greatly inspired by his fellow peer instructors, and by his beloved students- who continually surprise him with their many artistic talents.
